"Practice isn’t the thing you do once you’re good. It’s the thing you do that makes you good." – Malcolm Gladwell
Dear parents and students, welcome to our class newsletter. We hope this update finds you all healthy, happy and ready to learn. Our Program B has come to an end and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you for completing the program.
Throughout the program, you developed important coding skills and tackled coding challenges with determination and a willingness to learn. Coding offers endless possibilities for creativity and problem-solving, and we believe you have the potential to achieve great things. Thank you for being a part of Program B, and congratulations again on your graduation.
Next, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made in class so far, and also share some interesting topics that shall interest you.
From updates on our latest projects and lessons to showing some precious moments of the class, we aim to keep you informed and engaged in this meaningful education progress. In this edition of the class newsletter, we will be sharing some updates and pictures from the lessons, revealing our Star Coder, introducing a special awareness day in June and the latest happenings in Telebort. Happy Reading!
Throughout these 24 lessons, our students have gained valuable skills in designing and developing socially useful mobile apps. This program goes beyond programming and computer science principles, focusing on project-based learning that emphasizes writing, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
One important aspect our students learned is the development process of applications and web pages, which consists of two layers: front-end and back-end. Front-end development deals with the visual elements that users see first in an application or browser, and front-end developers are responsible for creating the product's look and feel. On the other hand, back-end development involves the server-side of an application and handles communication between the database and the application/browser.
In addition to these core concepts, our students were introduced to MIT App Inventor, a visual blocks-based programming language used to create mobile applications for both iOS and Android operating systems. They also explored various other concepts, including text-to-speech technology, speech recognition, barcode and QR code integration, database management, clock functionality, and prototyping.
Throughout the program, our students embraced the challenge of applying these concepts by programming different apps such as the Tour Buddy app, QR code scanner app, Math Fling app, quizzes, and more.
We commend their dedication and ability to implement their newfound knowledge in these designated projects. We are excited to witness their continued growth and excellence in coding abilities. Keep up the great work!
In this section, we'll be shining the spotlight on one outstanding student in our coding class - The Star Coder. We’ll choose a student who has demonstrated a strong understanding of the material, shown a positive attitude, or contributed to the overall success of the class.
As we honor Matthew Fung as our Student of the Month, we recognize his extraordinary achievements and the positive influence he had on our coding class. His unwavering dedication, exceptional coding skills, and collaborative spirit makes him an exemplary role model for all aspiring coders. Congratulations, Matthew! Your passion and commitment are truly inspiring.
Our goal with this section is to celebrate the effort of our students while motivating everyone to showcase incredible talents within our coding community. Congratulations to our Star Coder, and we look forward to seeing more of you to strive for excellence!
Dive into the significance of World Ocean Day on June 8th! Join people worldwide in celebrating our vast blue planet and raising awareness about ocean preservation. In this newsletter, explore the importance of World Oceans Day and learn how we can make a positive impact.
Our shared ocean connects us all, housing diverse marine life and playing a crucial role in maintaining our planet's health. It produces oxygen, absorbs carbon dioxide, regulates climate, and provides livelihoods and economic opportunities. However, oceans face challenges like pollution, overfishing, habitat destruction, and climate change. It's our responsibility to act and preserve the oceans for future generations.
Here's how we can contribute to ocean conservation:
Remember, our coding and technology journey is intertwined with the health of our oceans. With our skills and knowledge, we can create innovative solutions and sustainably manage marine environments. Let's celebrate and embrace our role as custodians of this irreplaceable resource. Together, we can make a positive impact and ensure the oceans inspire and amaze us for generations to come. Keep coding and make waves!
