Common challenges students may face in class and its solution.
Dear Readers,
Telebort acknowledges that students may face various challenges in class. Here are some of the most common challenges and Telebort's solutions:
Shy Students
Challenge: Hesitant to ask questions or participate in discussions.
Solution: Telebort fosters a supportive environment where students can ask questions freely without judgment. Instructors are encouraged to use wait time to allow students to formulate questions and to create opportunities for peer-to-peer clarification.
Active Students
Challenge: Dominates discussions, making it difficult for others to participate.
Solution: Telebort instructors employ various techniques to manage discussions, such as calling on students by name and using breakout rooms for smaller group interactions. This ensures all students have a chance to participate and contribute.
Time Zone Differences:
Challenge: Students in different time zones might struggle to attend class as we are using Malaysia time (UTC +8).
Solution: For students in different time zones, Telebort offers recorded sessions and flexible learning materials to accommodate their schedules.
Cyberbullying
Challenge: Students might engage in online behaviour that disrupts the learning environment or harasses classmates. This could include sharing insensitive content, using offensive language, or intentionally distracting others.
Solution: Telebort has a zero-tolerance policy for cyberbullying and provides clear guidelines for online behaviour. They also encourage open communication and reporting of any inappropriate behaviour.
What is the difference between Cohort and Platform Learning?
Dear Readers,
Here are some key differences between cohort learning and platform learning in Telebort:
Class Hours :
Cohort class is 2 hours while platform learning is a 1 hour class.
Class Size :
Cohort class can accommodate up to 15-20 students while platform learning can accommodate around 1-5 students. The number of students for Platform learning are uncertain as it depends on the demand of that particular slot.
Suitability :
Cohort class is suitable for students who would like more peer-to-peer learning while platform learning is suitable for students who are fast and independent learners. However, for platform learning, the class will still require students to communicate with one another and help each other out as well.
Learning materials :
Platform learning allows for self-paced learning, meaning students can proceed with their studies independently without waiting for the teacher to update the learning materials weekly on the dashboard. Once students are onboarded, they gain access to all the learning materials at once. The weekly schedule that the student needs to attend is for them to ask questions and receive guidance from the teacher in class. Live teaching will be provided if needed by the students in that class. However, for cohort, students will need to wait for the lessons to be uploaded weekly on the dashboard a few days before the class.
